An explanation of DVD Regions

How to watch code free DVD anywhere in the World.

The visual entertainment world is split into DVD regions.

You like to watch DVD films and travel then you may know that

the World is split into six regions for the purpose of viewing dvd´s

1. The US,US territories and Canada .(Dvds are expensive here.)

2. Europe,Middle East,Egypt,South Africa Japan,Greenland

3. Korea,Taiwan,Philippines,Indonesia,Hong Kong.

4. New Zealand,Australia,Central America,South America Mexico.

5. Russia,Eastern Europe,India,Africa,North America,Mongolia.

6. China. (DVD´s are cheap here )

Note that the Europian Region 2 May also be sub coded D1 to D4.

D1 being UK.only whereas D2 and D3 are european DVD´S unavailable

for sale in the UK.and Ireland.

D4 DVD´S are distributed Europewide.

Why have a DVD code

These codes are used in order to prevent the playback of DVD´s bought

in a certain region being played in another region of the World.

this is because there is an international agreement in order to control how

various DVD titles can be viewed around the world.

For example it is meant to

prohibit Region 1 and 2

consumers buying dvd´s

for a few dollars in China

or Ebay and viewing them

in regions with stronger

economies where they

normally cost much more.
